Work That Takes Longer Than One Session

By this age a child can carry a piece of work across weeks. That changes what is possible, and it is the first point at which their work starts to look like something rather than an exercise.

What changes

What Grades 7โ€“8 works on

Written as things you would actually notice at home, not as skills on a certificate.

  • Sustains a project past the point where it stops being fun
  • Negotiates within a team rather than splitting the work and hoping
  • Judges their own work against a standard, not against praise
  • Decides what is worth their effort and defends the choice

The kind of work

What a project looks like

Illustrative of how sessions run rather than a fixed syllabus. The problems change so the thinking has to travel.

  • 01

A multi-week build with a real deadline and a real audience

  • 02

Identifying a problem in their own school or neighbourhood and responding to it

  • 03

Using AI as one tool among several and justifying when not to

Questions

What parents of Grades 7โ€“8 children ask

How does this fit around exam pressure?

Sessions are weekly and there is no homework. Families who need to pause during exam periods can, and the spot is held.

Will my child be graded?

No marks. Work is reviewed against what it was trying to achieve, which is a more useful conversation than a number.

What if my child joins later than the others?

Projects run in cycles rather than one continuous syllabus, so joining at the start of a cycle is normal.
