Child Safety Policy

Effective date: 15 July 2026 · Entity: Glimmers Inc.

1. Our Commitment to Child Safety

At Glimmers, the safety, wellbeing, dignity, and privacy of every child are our highest priorities.

Glimmers is designed to provide children with a safe, supportive, and age-appropriate digital environment where they can learn, reflect, create, and connect. Every feature of our platform is developed with child safety in mind.

Our approach to child safety is guided by the principles of prevention, early intervention, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This Child Safety Policy explains how Glimmers works to protect children across all areas of the platform.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all Glimmers Services, including:

  • Mobile applications
  • Web platform
  • Lumiri AI companion
  • Joy Circles
  • Journals and reflections
  • Creative submissions
  • Community discussions
  • Olympiads
  • Workshops
  • Afterschool programs
  • Parent Dashboard
  • Future products and services operated by Glimmers

This Policy applies to children, parents, guardians, moderators, employees, contractors, educators, school partners, and any individual interacting with the platform.

3. Our Child Safety Principles

Our child safety program is built on the following principles:

  • Children deserve a safe and respectful environment.
  • Child wellbeing takes priority over engagement metrics.
  • Privacy and safety must work together.
  • Parents are important partners in protecting children.
  • Technology should support, not replace, human safeguarding.
  • Every report of unsafe behaviour is treated seriously.
  • Safety practices are reviewed and improved regularly.

4. Safe by Design

Glimmers is designed using a "Safety by Design" approach.

This means we consider child safety throughout the design, development, and operation of our platform.

Examples include:

  • Age-appropriate experiences.
  • Privacy-first settings.
  • Limited sharing of personal information.
  • AI-assisted safety monitoring.
  • Human moderation.
  • Parent oversight through the Parent Dashboard.
  • Reporting and blocking tools.
  • Secure account management.

5. Age-Appropriate Experiences

Content, activities, and platform experiences are designed to be suitable for the intended age groups.

Where appropriate, Glimmers may tailor:

  • Reflection prompts.
  • Learning activities.
  • Community experiences.
  • AI interactions.
  • Educational content.

Certain features may be limited based on a child's age or developmental needs.

6. Parent Partnership

Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting their child's digital wellbeing.

Glimmers encourages parents to:

  • Review platform updates.
  • Discuss online experiences with their child.
  • Use the Parent Dashboard responsibly.
  • Encourage respectful online behaviour.
  • Report any safety concerns promptly.

Parents are expected to supervise their child's use of the platform in accordance with the Parent Consent Policy.

7. AI-Assisted Safety

Glimmers uses AI to help identify potential safety concerns.

AI may assist in detecting:

  • Bullying
  • Harassment
  • Threatening language
  • Sharing of personal information
  • Hate speech
  • Potential self-harm concerns
  • Abuse disclosures
  • Grooming indicators
  • Inappropriate content

AI assists our safety processes but does not make final safeguarding decisions on its own.

8. Human Review

Where necessary, trained moderators may review content that has been:

  • Reported by users.
  • Flagged by automated systems.
  • Identified during safety monitoring.

Human review helps ensure that moderation decisions are fair, accurate, and proportionate.

Moderators are trained to handle child safety concerns with care and confidentiality.

9. Community Safety

All community interactions must follow the Glimmers Kindness Guide and Community Guidelines.

We do not permit:

  • Bullying
  • Harassment
  • Hate speech
  • Threats
  • Sexual content
  • Grooming
  • Exploitation
  • Discrimination
  • Sharing of personal contact information
  • Encouraging dangerous behaviour

Content that violates these standards may be removed.

Accounts may be restricted or suspended where appropriate.

10. Protecting Personal Information

To help protect children, Glimmers discourages the sharing of personal information.

Children should never share:

  • Phone numbers
  • Home addresses
  • Email addresses
  • School names or identifying details
  • Passwords
  • Financial information
  • Government-issued identification
  • Social media usernames intended for communication outside Glimmers

Where possible, Glimmers may automatically detect and restrict the sharing of sensitive personal information.

11. Reporting Safety Concerns

Users, parents, educators, and community members are encouraged to report behaviour or content that may place a child at risk.

Reports may include concerns relating to:

  • Bullying
  • Harassment
  • Unsafe conversations
  • Inappropriate content
  • Privacy concerns
  • Impersonation
  • Threats
  • Abuse
  • Grooming

Reports are reviewed as promptly as reasonably possible.

12. Safety Response

When a potential safety concern is identified, Glimmers may:

  • Review the reported content.
  • Restrict access to content or features.
  • Remove content.
  • Contact a parent or guardian.
  • Request additional information.
  • Suspend or terminate accounts.
  • Preserve information where necessary for safeguarding or legal compliance.

Our response will depend on the nature and seriousness of the concern.

13. Emergency Situations

Glimmers is not an emergency service.

If a child appears to be in immediate danger or requires urgent assistance, parents or guardians should contact local emergency services or appropriate child protection authorities without delay.

Where required by law, Glimmers may cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities investigating serious safety concerns.

14. Using Lumiri Safely

Lumiri is designed to support emotional reflection and learning.

Lumiri is not:

  • A therapist
  • A psychologist
  • A doctor
  • A crisis support service
  • A replacement for trusted adults

Where AI systems identify potential safety concerns, the interaction may be reviewed in accordance with our AI Use Policy and Privacy Policy.

15. Child Wellbeing

Glimmers aims to encourage healthy digital habits.

We encourage children to:

  • Take regular breaks from screens.
  • Reflect on their emotions.
  • Ask trusted adults for help when needed.
  • Balance online and offline activities.
  • Treat themselves and others with kindness.

Our platform is intended to support emotional growth, not maximise time spent online.

16. School Partnerships

Where Glimmers is used through a school or educational organisation, we work with schools to promote safe participation.

Schools are expected to:

  • Follow applicable safeguarding obligations.
  • Obtain required permissions where appropriate.
  • Report concerns through established safeguarding processes.

Private journals, reflections, and AI conversations are not routinely shared with schools unless authorised by parents, required by law, or necessary to protect a child.

17. Continuous Improvement

Child safety is an ongoing responsibility.

Glimmers regularly reviews:

  • Safety procedures.
  • Community standards.
  • Moderation practices.
  • AI safety systems.
  • User feedback.
  • Legal and regulatory developments.

We update our safety practices as technology, research, and legal requirements evolve.
